In-Game Instructions

Tattoo Parlor

Tats nods as you walk in, and gestures to the many designs on the wall. "Let me know what you are in the market for."

Get a Tattoo! Based on how much experience your Village's Tattoo Parlor has, you can get more things added to your work! Tattoos representing Gen, Nin, or Tai will give you Edge on normal Missions, whereas the faces of Allies let you Hang Out with them once a day for free!

Tattoos wear off really quickly for some reason, though, so you have to keep coming back to get them added to or Touched Up. If it gets too complex, though, your tattoo might get messed up, and you'll have to get it removed. Removed Tattoos are Raw and can't be worked on. You can fix that, though, with a little Stamina.

"Let's get started!"

Bonus

  • Allows villagers to use the Tattoo Parlor to buy tattoos.
  • Tattoos are limited by Complexity, which in turn has a village-dependent limit (max 111).
  • The Tattoo Parlor can only be used once per day.
  • If your Tattoo Complexity exceeds your village's maximum Complexity, the Tattoo will become nonfunctional and you'll have to get it removed. Once it's removed, the (absence of a) Tattoo is Raw and can't be replaced without paying either 200 Stamina or 20,000 Ryo.
  • Each effect starts at a cost of 10 Complexity and increases with each purchase of the same effect (with the exception of touch-ups). Your current Edge can be viewed on the main page (just below Current Bonuses.) Even if you have the Complexity, Detail tattoos cannot go above +3.
Tattoo Image Effect Base Complexity Complexity Increase
Gen Detail +1 Gen Edge 10 +10
Nin Detail +1 Nin Edge 10 +10
Tai Detail +1 Tai Edge 10 +10
Ally Face Free hangout with chosen ally (1/day) 10 +20
Touch-Up Resets touch-up counter +1-+5 0
  • Edge is a percent chance for each rolled die to generate another die. For example, if you have level 60 and edge +2, then on average you'll generate 60 * 2% = 1.2 extra dice, so your effective level essentially goes up to 61.2.
  • G/N/T +2 Edge will cost a total of 90 Complexity. Alternatively, +1/+2/+3 will cost a total of 100 Complexity.
  • Every day you don't work on a tattoo causes it to fade, adding one to the Touch-Up counter. Note that adding a new effect counts as a touch-up.
    • Every two days without a touch-up caps your bonus edge. Starting at two days the cap is +2; starting at four days the cap is +1.

Notes

  • Every time you touch-up a tattoo, Tats will usually add some amount of "weirdness" (nonfunctional embellishments) to your tattoo.
    • Usually nonfunctional. The weirdness "an unstable sigil! -1/+1 Edge randomly!" does exactly what it says, occasionally adding +/-1 Edge to all Edge boosts.
  • The trophy In Kaiju It Means Love requires 11 points of weirdness, which means you'll need to leave enough complexity free for 11 touchups, which will average between 11 and 55 Complexity.
  • Since tattoos require touchups to stay functional (needs more precise testing), and high-level tattoos can take around a week to fully replace, there's a compromise to be had between power and maintainability.
  • Since new effects count as touch-ups, if you don't desperately need the Edge it may be worth it to space out your additions as you get close to the limit, so as to get more time out of a high-level tattoo.
  • Known Weirdnesses:
    • C-A-T-S R-U-L-E around the outside
    • 'tattoo'. Like, the word tattoo. huh
    • one tiny taco for every taco you've ever had
    • an unstable sigil! -1/+1 Edge randomly!
    • a little :) in the corner
    • a wicked flaming skull in the shape of a pizza slice
    • an anchor. nice
    • the logo of the local ramen stand
    • a unicorn jumping over a rainbow
    • feathers on the sides
    • a fancy mustache
