Examine Your Surroundings

Prologue

You dash into a large, open room as the tunnel behind you crumbles closed. The floor has been painted wall-to-wall with interlocking bands of color, spiraling into a single center point. Signs hang over each area, ancient text and simple pictures lost to the ages. The courtyard is ringed by tiny, multicolored flowers, swaying gently as if in a breeze. It'd be almost relaxing, if not for the sounds of your impending demise slowly carving down through the mountain, hunting for you..

Spooky! >

Part 1

Ninjutsu
The Courtyard
As you walk across the courtyard, the air gets thicker and thicker as you approach the first, red-colored area, until you bump into what feels like an invisible wall.

After spending the better part of an hour, you can't find a way past. The wall is completely unaffected by any of your equipment. Time to break out some heavy firepower!
This is a Rolling Challenge!

Difficulty 20 Successes Remaining 1100

Attack the Barrier!
Rolling:

You continue your barrage.

Success:

You've hurled your best attempts at the wall, but they all passed through effortlessly, reverting into raw Chakra as they pass through. Hmm..

Part 2

Raw Power.
You lean against the wall, watching the flowers on the ground react to the flowing Chakra, glowing red as the energy passes by..

Use 1000 Chakra >

Success:

You concentrate, and you feel as if your hands start to sink into the wall as your inner energy flares up. As you tire, the field pushes you back to the line. Hmm..

Failure:

You don't have the mental focus to continue.

Part 3

Tuning Forks
You note both the flowers that surround the courtyard and the filaments you carry with you react to extreme uses of Chakra, but sustaining these states would be very taxing. You aren't sure if you can get through the entire barrier in one go, but you can certainly try..

I have 11 Red Filaments > (Requirement)

Success:

As you attune yourself to the barrier, you suddenly relax, and feel as if the burden of maintaining such a strong aura is lifted from you. Striding through the colored band without any further problems, you exit the other side, only to hear a slight crackling coming from your pocket.

You pull out a number of those flower petals you pulled from the ruins outside, and see a number of the red ones curl up and fade into gray dust.

Failure:

You cannot maintain the concentration, and bounce back.

Continue Quest >

Part 4

Basic Education
The bands of color shift and change, and gradually, you learn the emotional and physical states needed to pass through each. It is as if this is a training room, and the signs some sort of "how-to" manual. With the simple drawings, however, you can't help but feel as if this was designed for children..

I have 11 Blue and 11 Green Filaments > (Requirement)

Success:

You pass through band after band, getting closer to the exit.

Failure:

You cannot maintain the concentration, and bounce back.

Continue Quest >

Part 5

Letting Go
The last band is pure white - and unlike the others, doesn't seem to resist you. However, when you think of the previous bands you've been through, it throws you back, sparks of various colors scattering through the air.

I have 3 White Filaments >

Success:

By clearing your mind of all the other states, you pass through. You can feel any lapses in concentration being dissipated by the petals you carry.

Failure:

You cannot maintain the concentration, and bounce back.

Epilogue

You finally step out the other side, and turn to look back at the simple floor that hid so much difficulty.

Surprisingly, the flowers you once saw growing here are gone, and the dim glow of the place lost. The signs hanging over it are completely readable now - as if you've known the language all your life. "Focus the Spiral", "Visualize your War Form", "Keep Calm", and so on.

How is that possible? You shake your head, and turn to walk into the abandoned complex that lies beyond, the ever-present sounds of your enemy slowly, inexorably, breaking down the mountain constantly thrumming from above.

You have unlocked high-level Cave Missions!
You got the Spiral Frequency Bloodline!
You may now Tune in the Avatar Menu and on specific Missions!

Now, if only you could get this Pocketwatch working, maybe it could help you out..
