He flips the switch on the Crazy Killer Plot Device, and it explodes into a giant flaming bird, which rockets towards you and Shorty!You prepare to take the blow for her, realizing that only your bonds of trust can save you..

The scent of that strange flower of Shorty's wafts through the air, renewing your strength, and you dash the CKPD to pieces with your Sword of the Reaper!
Fail:
The CKPD obliterates the both of you utterly, and you wake up - it must have all been a dream! Phew - otherwise, that would have been it for your character!

Epilogue
You have saved Shorty! She throws you the horns, and you and your intrepid band of awesome waltz right out of Plot Fortress with no trouble. A certain antagonist even tags along!
