Coliseum

You marvel at a giant building being erected in a clearing - barely
anything is visible, as scaffolding and workers swarm over the
incomplete structure.

From behind a tree, Billy's head pokes out, sneakily looking around. His
eyes widen in recognition when he sees you, and he waves you over.

"Hey, check out these plans we found!" He and a few others you know
are poring over scraps of paper, some with art, some with flowcharts, a
few glowing with Code.

While you can't make heads or tails of them, a few folks have, and have
begun practicing for a future challenge..

Introduction

Welcome to the (mini) Coliseum!

Every 15 minutes (11 for Billy Club members), you can get in a Fight with a random Ally (that you may or may not have) or perhaps one of the many Cats roaming around the Coliseum. Win, lose, or draw, you will get Coliseum Chips that turn in for Stamina plus additional cool things the longer you play.

Chippies

Chippies, or Coliseum Chips, are a special resource that can be turned in for Stamina.

Each match you play nets you Chippies just for playing, starting at +1 and gradually increasing to +5 as you progress through the coliseum. You get an additional +3 Chippies for winning, +1 for tying, and none :( for losing.

For every 11 chippies turned in, you get 100 Stamina. There is no limit to the number of times per day you can do this, but there is a hard limit of 33 times it can be done total. After you have earned 363 Chippies, you no longer earn Chippies (for now).

Stats

Your stats for the Coliseum are Gen, Nin, and Tai. You start out with 3 Uses and 3 Power each, and you gain additional uses and power the longer you play (the gain is predetermined to spread the uses and power evenly so there's no overpowering a stat). The maximum value for each is 11 uses and 11 Power.

Opponents' stats will start similarly low and increase as yours do, just a bit more unevenly.

Win, Lose, or Draw

Each match is a total of nine rounds. Each round, you select a stat to play versus your opponent's stat.

Nin beats Gen, Tai beats Nin, and Gen beats Tai.

If you win the round, you gain a point. If you lose the round, you lose a point. If both you and your opponent chose the same stat, the round goes to whoever's Power is higher, otherwise there is no change in score.

If you have a positive score at the end of nine rounds, you win the match. You lose if you have a negative score.

You win automatically if your score is +3 at any time and lose automatically if it is -3 at any time.

There are a number of possible allies who may appear as normal opponents - starting with Pinky, Billy, and Stalkergirl - and getting stronger and more diverse as you win more matches. The ones currently known are:

After 52 total wins, the power level of all random opponents increases to 11 for all stats.

In addition, the Coliseum keeps track of your current winning (and losing) streak and changes the beginning announcement accordingly:

One of the spectators shouts over the roar of the crowd!
(Normal) "Their Tai is Unstoppable!"
(Winning Streak of 2) "Three for Three! Three for Three!"
(Winning Streak > 2) "Can anyone stop them!?"
(Losing Streak >= 2) "Can they break out of their slump?"

Winning with a particular stat gives the following messages:

  • Your Genjutsu catches them off guard!
  • Your Ninjutsu blows them away!
  • Your Taijutsu overwhelms their defenses!

Coliseum Cats

Beyond the normal allies you can face, there are cats with unique introductions and stat descriptors that you can face once you reach certain milestones (Note: I am re-running the coliseum with an alt and recording first appearance info).

Upon beating them, their picture profile is displayed at the bottom of the page for all time and they become a potential random encounter during normal matches and their stats will increase like those of other opponents.

Each cat appears after a set number of total wins in the coliseum. Your win streak doesn't matter for getting them to appear, only your total wins. Once you've met a cat for the first time, you will continue to face them until you defeat them in battle after which they will become a random encounter.

  • 5 Wins: Jack

  • 31 Wins: Nosebleed
  • 35 Wins: Catasha

ElevenCats

The first set of cats you will encounter is 11DBHK's own four felines, Jack, Ridley, Sunny, and Roger. Roger in particular is very difficult at this stage of the Coliseum, as he has 11/11 in all three stats, which will be well above your own power levels, forcing you to play perfectly against him.

Defeating all four gains you the ally ElevenCats.

Carlito's stats may seem intimidating, but by this point you will have comparable power in your own stats, making it a fairly even match.

Defeating all four gains you the HelperCats One Trophy.

Defeating all four gains you the HelperCats Two Trophy.

Currently, defeating these four is the end of the content (until more are added) and the reward for beating them is nothing more than warm fuzzy feelings.
